Beef & Cheddar Sliders

I stole this recipe for Beef & Cheddar Sliders from plainchicken.com. These sliders are perfect for your Superbowl party! A package of dinner rolls is sliced in half and the bottoms are placed in a baking pan. Then sliced roast beef with barbecue sauce is placed on the bread. Next cooked onions are added, then sliced cheddar cheese before the tops are put on. A sauce made with butter, brown sugar, mustard and Worcestershire sauce is brushed on top of the bread. Then the sliders are baked in the oven until they are brown and crispy.

Did you know? A slider is an American term for a steam-grilled sandwich, typically around 2 inches across, made with a bun. The term primarily refers to small hamburgers, but is sometimes used to describe any small sandwich made with a slider roll. Sliders can be served as hors d’oeuvres, snacks or entrées.³ (see more trivia in the Trivia tab)

Combine ¾ lb very thinly sliced deli roast beef and ½ cup BBQ sauce. Set aside. (I like to cook the beef with the barbecue sauce in a skillet, so the beef absorbs more of the sauce.)

Make the sauce next, in a small saucepan add 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce and 1 ½ tsp sesame seeds.

Preheat oven to 350 F. Split each dinner roll from a 1 dozen Hawaiian dinner rolls package. Place roll bottoms in a sprayed 9×13 baking pan. Top rolls with barbecue roast beef.

Then add cooked onions and slices of cheddar cheese.

Next, place roll tops on top of cheese. Brush the sauce on top.

Bake 20-30 minutes or until the tops are brown and crispy.

Separate and enjoy!
