Praline Crunch

I stole this recipe for Praline Crunch from plainchicken.com. This tasty snack is perfect for any holiday party and also makes a great food gift! Brown sugar, corn syrup and butter are cooked in a saucepan. Then vanilla and baking soda are mixed in before pouring over Crispix cereal and pecan halves. Next, the cereal mixture is spread into a parchment lined baking pan and baked for 1 hour. After baking, the mixture is poured onto wax paper to cool, and then broken in pieces. This recipe is an easy to make crunchy snack. Just be careful of who is listening to the crunch!

Preheat oven to 250 F. In a large bowl, combine 8 cups Crispix cereal and 2 cups pecan halves.

Then in a medium saucepan combine ½ cup packed brown sugar, ½ cup corn syrup and ½ cup butter.

Next, bring sugar mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. (I recommend using a wire whisk to make sure the butter and sugar break up and dissolve completely.)

Remove the pan from heat and stir in 1 tsp vanilla and ½ tsp baking soda. Then pour the hot sugar mixture over cereal and pecans.

Gently toss to evenly coat cereal. Then pour cereal mixture into 9×13 pan. (I recommend lining the pan with parchment paper.)

Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes. Pour onto wax paper lined cooking sheet to cool.

Once cool, break up any large pieces that formed and enjoy this tasty, crunchy snack. You can make this ahead of time and store in an airtight container.
