Chocolate Cake Pops

I stole this recipe for Chocolate Cake Pops from simplyhomecooked.com. These cake pops are easy to make and can be decorated for any occasion. Chocolate mix is combined with water, vegetable oil and eggs then baked in a 9×13 baking dish. Then the cake is cooled completely and crumbled into a large bowl. Chocolate frosting is mixed with the cake crumbs and rolled into balls. Next candy melts are melted in the microwave. Once melted the cake balls are dipped into the candy until coated. Then the cake pops are ready to eat once the coating is dried. These pretty cake pops are a perfect St. Patrick’s Day recipe.

The ingredients for this recipe are: 15 oz box chocolate cake mix, ⅓ cup vegetable oil, 3 eggs, 1 ¼ cup water, 2 tbsp Pilsbury Creamy Supreme Chocolate Fudge frosting and 12 oz Wilton chocolate candy melts

In a large bowl add 1 package chocolate cake mix, 1 ¼ cup water, ⅓ cup vegetable oil and 3 eggs. Use an electric mixer to combine all ingredients together.

Spray 9×13 baking pan with non-stick spray and pour the cake batter in. Bake at 350 F for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool cake completely. Once the cake is trimmed, begin crumbling the cake into a large bowl. Scoop 2 tbsp frosting and mix until the cake crumbs come together.

Roll the crumbs into balls and place on a wax paper lined baking sheet.

Melt the candy melts in a large bowl and then add stir in 1 tsp of dipping aid chips. Pour the melted candy into a cup and begin dipping cake pops.

Repeat with remaining cake balls, using different colored candy melts if desired. Drizzle with cake pops with remaining melted candy.

Let cake pops set for 30 minutes to harden.

  • 1 tsp melting aid

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl add 1 package chocolate cake mix, 1 ¼ cup water, ⅓ cup vegetable oil and 3 eggs.
  2. Use an electric mixer to combine all ingredients together.
  3. Spray 9×13 baking pan with non-stick spray and pour the cake batter in.

  5. Cool cake completely.
  6. Use a knife to remove the entire outer layer of the cake. The outside layer can be dry, they might cause the cake pops to fall apart.
  7. Once the cake is trimmed, begin crumbling the cake into a large bowl.
  8. Scoop 2 tbsp frosting and mix until the cake crumbs come together.
  9. Roll the crumbs into a ball and place on a wax paper lined baking sheet. Repeat and freeze the cake pops for 15 minutes. Don’t freeze longer than 15 minutes!
  10. Melt the candy melts in a large bowl and add stir in 1 tsp of dipping aid chips.
  11. Pour the melted candy into a cup and begin dipping cake pops.
  12. Let cake pops set for 30 minutes to harden.
