Instant Pot Sloppy Joes

I stole this recipe for Instant Pot Sloppy Joes from Instant Pot Sloppy Joes. A pressure cooker does all the work for these delicious sandwiches. Ground beef and is sautéed in the pot of a pressure cooker. Then garlic and tomato sauce are added to the beef. Next BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, chili powder and onion powder are mixed in. The pressure cooker is sealed and cook on high for 10 minutes. After releasing the steam a mixture of cornstarch and water are stirred in to thicken the sauce if needed. Enjoy these tasty sandwiches, no matter who is watching.

The ingredients for this recipe are: 1 ½ lbs ground beef, 3 garlic cloves, 8 oz can tomato sauce, ½ cup BBQ sauce, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp cider vinegar, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp chili powder and 1 tsp onion powder

Turn the instant pot to sauté. Cook beef until no longer pink. Then add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Turn off the pressure cooker, remove the insert and then drain the fat from the meat.

Next add the tomato sauce to pot and scrap up cooking bits from bottom of insert. Then add BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, chili powder and onion powder to the tomato sauce. Stir to combine.

Return the drained beef and garlic to the pot. Then stir to mix everything together.

Cover instant pot, lock and seal. Cook on HIGH pressure for 10 minutes. Turn off pot and then quick release steam. Scoop out and serve on buns.

  • 1 tbsp hot water
  • Rolls

Instructions

  1. Turn instant pot on sauté. Cook beef until no longer pink. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Turn off pot, drain fat.
  2. Add tomato sauce to pot with the beef and garlic, scrap up cooking bits from bottom of insert.
  3. Add BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, chili powder and onion powder. Stir to combine.

  4. Cover instant pot, lock and seal. Cook on HIGH pressure for 10 minutes. Turn off pot and quick release steam.
  5. Remove lid. Set the pot to sauté. Stir together corn starch and hot water. Add to the pot and cook for 2 minutes, until slightly thickened.

Recipe Notes

Can add chopped bell peppers and onions to ground beef in step 1.
