Instant Pot Sloppy Joes

A pressure cooker does all the work for these delicious sandwiches. Ground beef and is sautéed in the pot of a pressure cooker. Then garlic and tomato sauce are added to the beef. Next BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, chili powder and onion powder are mixed in. The pressure cooker is sealed and cook on high for 10 minutes. After releasing the steam a mixture of cornstarch and water are stirred in to thicken the sauce if needed.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 tbsp hot water
  • Rolls

Instructions

  1. Turn instant pot on sauté. Cook beef until no longer pink. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Turn off pot, drain fat.
  2. Add tomato sauce to pot with the beef and garlic, scrap up cooking bits from bottom of insert.
  3. Add BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar, chili powder and onion powder. Stir to combine.

  4. Cover instant pot, lock and seal. Cook on HIGH pressure for 10 minutes. Turn off pot and quick release steam.
  5. Remove lid. Set the pot to sauté. Stir together corn starch and hot water. Add to the pot and cook for 2 minutes, until slightly thickened.

Recipe Notes

Can add chopped bell peppers and onions to ground beef in step 1.
