French Silk Brownies

I stole this recipe for French Silk Brownies from kitchenfunwithmy3sons.com. This delicious dessert is a combines a brownie and French silk pie filling. First brownie mix is stirred with egg, melted butter and milk. The brownie batter is poured into a pan and baked. Next cream cheese and vanilla are beaten together before mixing in powdered sugar. A mixture of melted butter and chocolate is added then Cool Whip is gently folded into the mixture. This French silk layer is spread over the cooled brownies and more Cool Whip is spread on top. These brownies are so good you’ll want to finish the whole pan.

The ingredients for this recipe are: 1 box brownies, 1 egg, 5 ½ tbsp. unsalted butter, ¼ cup milk, 8 oz cream cheese, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 2 cups powdered sugar, 4 oz semi sweet chocolate, ¼ cup butter, 16 oz Cool Whip

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 11×7 inch (2 quart) glass baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. In a medium bowl, combine the brownie mix, egg, melted butter and milk, stirring until smooth.

Spread the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 350 F for 25-28 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Then in a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

Next add the powdered sugar and mix until combined.

In a small microwave safe bowl, heat the semi-sweet chocolate and butter. Cook in 30 second intervals until melted, stirring well between each cooking interval.

Add the melted chocolate and butter mixture to the cream cheese mixture and stir until well combined.

Gently fold in 8 oz Cool Whip.

Spread the French silk layer over the cooled brownies.

Then spread on the remaining 8 oz tub of Cool Whip and sprinkle chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips over the French Silk Brownies. Slice and serve.
