Polynesian Teriyaki Steaks

I stole this recipe for Polynesian Teriyaki Steaks from Walt Disney World. This steak recipe was published in a magazine at least thirty years ago, but it did say it was from Walt Disney World, so we have always called them Disney steaks. The delicious marinade is the key to this recipe. In a small saucepan garlic, ginger, soy sauce, ketchup, sugar, white vinegar and water are combine. Then simmered for 30 minutes, before adding cornstarch and cooking until thickened. Next the steaks are marinated for a day before grilling. Don’t share your steak bone until you are ready!

The ingredients for this recipe are: 1 tsp garlic, 4 tsp fresh ginger, 1 cup soy sauce, ¼ cup ketchup, ¼ cup sugar, ½ cup white vinegar, ¾ cup water and 1 tbsp cornstarch

Combine garlic, ginger, soy sauce, ketchup, sugar, vinegar and water in saucepan. Cover and then simmer for 30 minutes.

Dissolve cornstarch in an additional 2 tbsp water and then add to sauce.

Cook and stir until sauce thickens. Cool.

Marinate steaks in sauce, covered in refrigerator for 24 hours or longer, turning occasionally.

Drain steaks and place on a warm grill.

Grill, turning at least once.

Next let the steaks rest for a few minutes before serving.
