Delightful Donut Casserole

I stole this recipe for Delightful Donut Casserole from a cookbook called Family Favorites Casserole Recipes. This sweet breakfast casserole uses donut holes as a shortcut. Any flavor of donut holes you prefer are cut in half and placed in a casserole dish. Then butter, brown sugar, an egg, cinnamon and vanilla are mixed together. Next the cinnamon mixture is sprinkled over the donut holes before baking. While the casserole bakes a topping is made with flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon. The topping is crumbled on top and the casserole bakes for another ten minutes. This delicious donut casserole is served warm and so delicious you want to stretch for seconds.

Preheat oven to 350 F, lightly coat a baking dish with spray. Half the donut holes from a 15 oz box and place in the dish. I picked a half chocolate and half plain.

Then in a bowl combine 6 tbsp melted butter, ¼ cup brown sugar, 1 large egg, ½ tsp ground cinnamon and ½ tsp vanilla.

Then sprinkle mixture over the donut holes. Bake for 20 minutes.

While the casserole bakes, combine ½ cup AP flour, ½ cup light brown sugar, ¼ cup granulated sugar, 4 tbsp melted butter and 1 tsp ground cinnamon.

Mix ingredients together until well combined.

Remove the casserole from the oven and top with sugar mixture.

Bake for another 10 minutes until golden. Let cool slightly before serving.
