Grandma’s Biscuits & Gravy Casserole

I stole this recipe for Grandma’s Biscuits & Gravy Casserole from a cookbook called Family Favorites Casserole Recipes: 103 Comforting Breakfast Casseroles, Dinner Ideas and Desserts Everyone Will Love. This delicious breakfast casserole gets help from canned biscuits. The biscuits are quartered and half of the pieces are placed in a casserole dish and baked. Then breakfast sausage is browned in a skillet and removed. Next the gravy is made in the skillet with flour, milk, salt, pepper and cayenne. The sausage is added back to the gravy and poured over the cooked biscuits. Then the uncooked biscuit pieces are added to the top before baking the casserole. This breakfast has all the flavor of traditional biscuits and gravy but is less work and feeds a crowd.

“A positive attitude and a sense of humor go together like biscuits and gravy.” – Dolly Parton, Singer (see more quotes in the Quotes tab)
