Beer Battered Shrimp

I stole this recipe for Beer Battered Shrimp from McCormick Golden Dipt Beer Batter (Seafood Batter Mix). This delicious shrimp recipe comes right off the product box. Beer batter mix is combined with garlic powder and red pepper before adding beer, water or club soda. Then peeled shrimp is dipped into the batter and fried. Frozen and thawed shrimp or fresh shrimp can be used. This recipe is a delicious appetizer or a main dish.

The ingredients for this recipe are: 1 cup McCormick Golden Dipt Beer Batter Mix, ½ tsp garlic powder, ¼ tsp ground red pepper, ⅔ cup beer or water, 1 lb large shrimp and vegetable oil

Pour oil into deep fryer, large heavy skillet or saucepan, filling no more than ⅓ full. Heat oil to 375 F on medium heat. Stir Batter Mix, garlic powder and red pepper in medium bowl until mixed. Then add beer or water and mix until smooth.

Next dip shrimp into batter, shake off excess.

Carefully add several pieces at a time to the hot oil.

Fry 3 to 5 minutes, turning once to brown evenly, until shrimp is golden brown.

Drain on paper towels or place on cooling rack over paper towels.

Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or plain.
