Thanksgiving Meal Ideas 2019

I’ve gathered some recipes to help with planning for your Thanksgiving Meal this year. There is a recipe for making a turkey in the slow cooker, some recipes for appetizers, vegetables, side dishes, homemade breads and two dessert ideas. Hope this helps! You can also look at the Thanksgiving Meal Ideas I posted from 2018.

Appetizers

Two recipes are listed to warm you up for the big meal! For the first recipe, ricotta is whipped with honey. Then bread slices are toasted and topped with the honey ricotta, sprinkled with sugared pecans and drizzled with more honey. The crostini recipe can be made ahead of time and assembled before serving. Homemade pretzel bites taste just like you favorite pretzels from the fair. Pretzel bites are made with a secret ingredient of mashed potatoes.

Vegetables

Three vegetable options are listed below. The fist recipe is for breaded asparagus that is baked in the oven. It is a fancy way to serve vegetables on a holiday and can easily be prepped ahead of time. Slow cooker roasted vegetables are quick and easy to prep. Chopped vegetables are mixed with dry Italian dressing mix and olive oil. Using the slow cooker saves you valuable oven space on Thanksgiving and they taste like they cooked in the oven all day. Roasted broccoli uses a short cut of starting with frozen broccoli. After thawing the broccoli, the broccoli is mixed with breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese and seasoning before being spread on a baking sheet and roasted in the oven.

Side Dishes

The first recipe combines broccoli and rice with Velveeta cheese and canned soup. After cooking in the slow cooker, fried onions are sprinkled on top before serving. The spinach casserole is stolen from a restaurant. Onions, mushrooms and garlic are cooked and mixed with chipotle pepper and seasonings. Then two different cheeses are mixed in with spinach and corn. Everything is placed in a casserole dish, then topped with a third cheese and baked until the cheese is melted.

The main event, don’t forget to defrost before cooking!

Bread

All three of the bread recipes I included can be made ahead and warmed before eating. The Olive Garden Breadsticks taste just like the restaurant version. Jojo’s Biscuits are a gift to you straight from Joanna Gaines. Lastly, the yeast rolls are stolen from a popular tourist restaurant called the Lion House.

Dessert

For dessert I included a cake and candy option. The cake starts with boxed cake mix, canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice. A praline topping goes in the bottom of the cake pans. After baking the cakes are flipped over and layered with spiced cream cheese frosting. Pecan Divinity is made with beaten egg whites and a cooked corn syrup mixture. They are very easy to make and look fancy enough for a holiday. The candy can be made days earlier and stored in an airtight container.
