I stole this recipe for Seasoned Rice from spendwithpennies.com. This rice recipe is a perfect side dish for any grilled recipe. First rice is toasted in a saucepan with butter. Then onion and garlic are added and cooked until softened. Next broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and parsley are added and the saucepan is covered. The rice cooks covered for twenty minutes, then fluffed before serving. The recipe uses ingredients that can be found in your pantry and fridge.
The ingredients for this recipe are: 1 cup long grain white rice, 2 tbsp butter, ¼ cup onion, 2 cloves garlic, 2 cups beef or chicken broth, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce and 1 tsp dried parsley
Chop the onion and mince the garlic, then set aside.
If desired, at this time start cooking sliced mushrooms to add to the rice.
Place the rice and 1 tbsp butter in a saucepan with a lid.
Heat over medium high heat until the rice starts to slightly brown.
Then add the onion and garlic, cook 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly softened.
Next add the remaining ingredients except 1 tbsp butter and stir.
Stir to combine the ingredients.
Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook 20 minutes, do not open the lid. Remove from the heat (without opening the lid) and let is rest for 5 minutes. Open the lid and add the remaining butter.
Next add the cooked mushrooms, if using.
Fluff with a fork, taste and season with additional salt and pepper if desired.

- ¼ cup onion finely minced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 cups beef or chicken broth

- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried parsley
