Seasoned Rice

This rice recipe is a perfect side dish for any grilled recipe. First rice is toasted in a saucepan with butter. Then onion and garlic are added and cooked until softened. Next broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and parsley are added and the saucepan is covered. The rice cooks covered for twenty minutes, then fluffed before serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 2 tbsp butter divided
  • ΒΌ cup onion finely minced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups beef or chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Place the rice and 1 tbsp butter in a saucepan with a lid. Heat over medium high heat until the rice starts to slightly brown.
  2. Add the onion and garlic, cook 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly softened.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients except 1 tbsp butter and stir. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, cover and reduce heat to a simmer.
  4. Cook 20 minutes, do not open the lid.
  5. Remove from the heat (without opening the lid) and let is rest for 5 minutes.
  6. Open the lid and add the remaining butter and stir. Fluff with a fork, taste and season with additional salt and pepper if desired.

Recipe Notes

1 bouillon cube can be added for additional flavor.
