I stole this recipe for Birthday Cake Muddy Buddies from chex.com. This easy to make recipe can be a dessert or snack. Rice Chex cereal is placed in a bowl. Then vanilla frosting is mixed with vanilla baking chips and microwaved until the mixture is melted and smooth. The frosting mixture is poured over the cereal and mixed until the cereal is coated. Next sprinkles are added the cereal before putting the cereal in a resealable plastic bag. Powdered sugar is poured into the bag and then the bag is closed and shaken to coat the cereal. Once the cereal is coated the mixture is spread onto a baking sheet to cool. This recipe can be adapted for any party theme by changing the sprinkle colors.
The ingredients for this recipe are: 6 cups Rice Chex cereal, ¾ cup Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting, ½ cup white vanilla baking chips, 1 container (1.75 oz) rainbow sprinkles (about ⅓ cup) and ¾ cup powdered sugar
In a large bowl, place cereal; set aside. To remove the crumbs and dust from the cereal place the cereal over a strainer and shake to remove the smaller pieces.
Then in a medium microwaveable bowl place the frosting and white vanilla baking chips.
Microwave uncovered on HIGH about 1 minute, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth. Pour mixture over cereal; stir until evenly coated.
Next add sprinkles and mix well.
Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on cooking parchment paper to cool, about 30 minutes.
Cool completely before storing in an airtight container at room temperature. Add additional sprinkles once the mixture is cool.
