Red, White & Blue M&M’s Cookie Bars

I stole this recipe for Red, White & Blue M&M’s Cookie Bars from number-2-pencil.com. These cookies are a perfect dessert for 4th of July. First butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar are mixed with eggs and vanilla. Then flour, baking soda and salt are added. Next chocolate chips and red, white & blue M&M’s are folded into the batter. The batter is spread into a baking dish and baked. After cooling the bars are removed from the pan and drizzled with red and blue candy melts for decoration. These cookie bars are a delicious twist on chocolate chip cookies.

The ingredients for this recipe are: 2 sticks butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar, 3 large eggs, 1 ½ tsp vanilla, 3 cups AP flour, ¾ tsp baking soda, ¾ tsp salt, 1 ½ cups red white & blue M&M’s and 1 cup mini chocolate chips

In a bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until fluffy. Then add in eggs and vanilla and continue to beat.

Lower the speed on the electric mixer and then add flour, baking soda and salt and mix until combined.

Next fold in M&M’s and chocolate chips.

Line a 9×13 baking dish with foil, leave some overhang to remove easily. Next spray generously with cooking spray. Then transfer cookie dough to prepared dish.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool completely and remove from pan and cut.

Next melt red and blue candy melts in the microwave and then drizzle over the bar pieces.

Let the decorative drizzle harden and enjoy!
