Simple Puff Pastry Apple Tart

I stole this recipe for Simple Puff Pastry Apple Tart from littledairyontheprairie.com. This fancy looking dessert is actually very easy to make. A sheet of puff pastry is thawed and a border is scored along the edges. Beaten egg is then brushed on the pastry sheet. Sliced apples are mixed with butter, cinnamon, salt and brown sugar. Then the sliced apples are arranged in rows inside the border of the puff pastry. Next the pastry is baked until golden and apples are tender. Powdered sugar finishes this delicious apple dessert. Just make sure to use the apples before they go bad!

The ingredients for this recipe are: 1 sheet puff pastry, 1 egg, 3 medium-sized baking apples, ¼ cup brown sugar, salt, ½ tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp butter and ½ tsp lemon juice

Thaw one sheet of puff pastry until room temperature.

Preheat oven to 375 F. Transfer pastry sheet to a parchment lined baking sheet. Then score edges of puff pastry creating a ½ inch border all around the pastry. Don’t cut all the way through, just score. Brush pastry, inside of border with beaten egg.

Next melt butter in a mixing bowl; then add cinnamon, a dash of salt and brown sugar.

Peel and slice the apples. Toss with lemon juice. Then add the brown sugar mixture to the apples.

Arrange apples as desired over puff pastry, keeping inside the scored border. Pour any remaining brown sugar on top of apples.

Then bake for 30-35 minutes or until apples are tender and pastry is golden brown.

Serve warm or room temperature.

Instructions

  3. Roll out into 8”x14” rectangle. Transfer to parchment lined baking sheet.
  4. Score edges of puff pastry creating a ½ inch border all around the pastry. Don’t cut all the way through, just score.
  5. Brush pastry, inside of border with beaten egg.

  7. Melt butter in mixing bowl; add cinnamon, dash of salt and brown sugar. Add in apples and toss together.
  8. Arrange apples as desired over puff pastry, keeping inside scored border. Pour any remaining brown sugar on top of apples. (3 columns of apples in even rows)
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until apples are tender and pastry is golden brown.
  10. Warm frosting, if using, until reaches drizzling consistency. Drizzle over tart.
  11. Serve warm or room temperature.
