I stole this recipe for Mixed Berry Crisp from cookieandkate.com. This delicious dessert is perfect for summer. Frozen or fresh strawberries and raspberries or your berries of choice are placed into a baking dish. Then the berries are mixed with honey, cornstarch, lemon zest and juice. Next a topping is made with oats, flour, chopped nuts, brown sugar, salt, butter and yogurt. The topping dropped by spoonfuls on top of the berries. Next the crisp is baked until the top is golden brown and the fruit mixture is bubbling. Serve this delicious berry crisp with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
Did you know? Crisps are a variation on a potpie theme. Instead of topping the filling with pie dough, the filling is topped with cookie crumbs or sweetened oats mixed with bit of fat to assemble a paste. The paste mixture is dropped onto the filling before baking.⁵ (see more trivia in the Trivia tab)
