Fritos Mix

I stole this recipe for Fritos Mix from thereciperevival.com. This delicious snack mix makes enough for a crowd. A box of corn Chex, peanuts and Fritos are mixed together and split into two bowls. Then in a saucepan butter is melted with brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. After the mixture boils, baking soda is mixed and poured over the Fritos mixture. Next everything is stirred together to coat all the pieces. Then the mix is spread onto parchment paper lined cookie sheets and baked. Once cooled, this crunchy mix is ready to eat.

The ingredients for this recipe: 12 oz box of corn Chex, 16 oz container of peanuts, 9.25 oz bag Fritos, 1 ¼ cup butter, 1 ¼ cup brown sugar, ¾ cup lite corn syrup, ½ tsp salt and ¾ tsp baking soda

Combine the Chex, Fritos and peanuts and divide into 2 bowls.

Then in a medium sauce pan, melt the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and salt.

Bring to a boil and boil for 4 minutes.

Remove from the heat and sprinkle in the baking soda. This will bubble up.

Stir the mixture and pour half the mix into each bowl. Then stir until all pieces are coated.

Transfer the mix onto large cookie sheets lined with parchment paper and spread evenly. Bake at 250 F for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

Let cool completely before eating. Colored M&Ms can added to the cooled mixture to make it more festive.
