Chicken Lazone

I stole this recipe for Chicken Lazone from plainchicken.com. This delicious entrée is perfect for a quick weeknight meal or tasty enough for Sunday dinner. Salt, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder and cayenne pepper are mixed together in a bowl. Then chicken is coated with the spice mixture and cooked in melted butter in a skillet. Once the chicken is cooked, heavy cream is added to the skillet. When the sauce thickens it is served over pasta.

Did you know? Chicken Lazone is named after its creator, Chef Lazone Randolph, who was the executive chef at Brennan’s restaurant in New Orleans. Chicken Lazone is a dish featuring chicken that is seasoned, pan-seared and smothered in a creamy Cajun-spiced sauce, typically served over pasta, rice or mashed potatoes.³  (see more trivia in the Trivia tab)

The ingredients for this recipe are: ½ tsp salt, 1 ½ tsp chili powder, 1 ½ tsp onion powder, 2 tsp garlic powder, ¼ tsp cayenne pepper, 2 lb chicken tenders, ¼ cup butter, 2 cups heavy cream and pasta

Combine salt, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder and cayenne pepper in a small bowl.

Sprinkle over both sides of the chicken. Then in a large sauté pan, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium high heat. Cook chicken until done, about 8 minutes.

Pour cream and remaining 2 tbsp butter into the skillet. Lower the heat and simmer until the sauce thickens, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Then add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat.

Next serve the chicken over the pasta.
