I stole this recipe for 7-Up Biscuits Recipe from plainchicken.com. Only 4 ingredients are needed to make these tasty biscuits. Sour cream is mixed with Bisquick baking mix and then 7-Up is added in. Next the dough is formed into a square and then cut into biscuits. The biscuits are placed in a baking dish and melted butter is poured on top. After baking more melted butter is brushed onto the biscuits. 7-Up is the secret ingredient to make these biscuits light and fluffy.
Did you know? 7-UP was invented in 1929 to compete with Orange Crush as lemon-lime alternative. It contained seven ingredients and was sold in seven-ounce bottles.⁵ (see more trivia in the Trivia tab)
The only ingredients you need for these biscuits are: 2 cups Bisquick (or another baking mix), ½ cup sour cream (regular or light), ½ cup 7-Up and ¼ cup melted butter.
Preheat the oven to 450 F. Cut sour cream into biscuit mix using two forks or a pastry blender.
Then pour in the 7-Up, the mixture will bubble, this is normal. Stir together, makes a very soft dough. (I used regular 7-Up, the recipe said to use regular, so I am not sure if diet can be substituted.)
Next sprinkle some additional dry biscuit mix on a board or table and pat the dough into a 9-inch square.
Using a 3 inch biscuit cutter, cut dough into 9 biscuits. Pour the melted butter in bottom of a pan. Then place biscuits in the pan on top of the butter.
Next bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. At this time, brush the baked biscuits with more melted butter.
Serve warm and enjoy.
