This is a one pan meal! Flank steak is placed in the middle and surrounded with onions, peppers and mushrooms. After cooking the steak is thinly sliced. The steak slices and vegetables are covered with cheese and baked until melted. Then everything is stuffed into a roll to make your very own Philly Cheese Steak.
I marinate the steak first. Place the steak in a large plastic bag; add salt, pepper, Worcestershire, oil and I also add 1 tbsp Montreal steak seasoning mix. Refrigerate for at least one hour to marinate. Line the baking sheet with parchment or foil; I can’t stress how important this is! The Worcestershire sauce burns off in the oven and will destroy your baking sheet if it is not lined. The Worcestershire sauce soaked through my parchment near the end of the cooking, I was able to clean the pan, but without it being lined it would have been too burned to clean. You can make sandwiches without onions and peppers. Cook some mushrooms with salt, pepper, oil and Worcestershire sauce on the stovetop while meat is cooking in the oven. Don’t stir the meat and vegetables together. When making sandwiches, place vegetable choice or no veggies on the bread, then top with meat.
