Garlic Bread Pizza Crust

This homemade pizza started with herb seasoned dough. After the dough rises butter and garlic is brushed on the dough. Then sauce and cheese is added before baking. More butter is melted and brushed on the cooked crust edges, before sprinkling with Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 ⅛ cups warm water 100 to 105 F
  • 3 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ tbsp honey
  • 1 ½ tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 5 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine water, yeast, honey and olive oil. Mix with a spoon, let it sit until foamy, about 10 minutes. Add in 2 ½ cups flour, salt, garlic powder and dried basil, stirring with a spoon until the dough comes together but it is still sticky. Using you hands, form the dough into a ball and work the additional ½ cup flour into the dough, kneading on a floured surface for a few minutes. Rub a bowl with olive oil then place the dough inside, turning to coat. Cover with a towel and place in a warm place to rise for 1 ½ hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  3. After the dough has risen, punch it down. Form the dough into desired shape on pan. Place the towel back over the dough and let it rest for 10 minutes. Melt 3 tbsp butter; mix with garlic and 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese.

  4. Assemble pizza with sauce and topping, brush the butter mixture on the edges of the pizza. Bake for 23-25 minutes or until crust and cheese are both golden.
  5. Melt 2 tbsp butter; mix with 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese. Brush the edges of the cooked pizza.
