Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Using the slow cooker to make your turkey saves you time and stress this Thanksgiving. Chopped onions, carrots and celery are placed in the bottom of a slow cooker. Then a turkey breast is rubbed with oil and a spice mix. Next it is placed on top of the vegetables in the slow cooker. The turkey cooks several hours, no basting needed. This is an easy way to make turkey and frees up oven space, just remember to defrost the turkey first.

  • 2 tsp black pepper

  3. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours. Meat should be at 165 F.

Recipe Notes

Place large onion, carrot and celery pieces on the bottom of slow cooker to hold up the turkey. This is similar when you use foil balls to hold up a chicken to cook a whole chicken in the slow cooker. I also add poultry seasoning to the spice mixture. Don’t forget to rub mixture between the skin and meat.

Broil 3-4 minutes to crisp skin.

Other websites show cooking 6 to 7 hours. Let rest 20 minutes on a cookie sheet before placing in oven to crisp skin.
