King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish

This yummy recipe is a perfect holiday breakfast or brunch treat. Hawaiian sweet rolls are placed in a baking dish and an x is cut in the center of each roll. Then melted butter, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon are mixed together and poured over the rolls. Next softened cream cheese is mixed with sugar and a beaten egg, then piped into the cavity of the rolls. The rolls are baked until the cream cheese is set.

Ingredients

  • 12 pack King’s Hawaiian original sweet rolls
  • cup butter melted
  • 1 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Melt 1 tbsp butter and spread it evenly in a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Place the rolls over the butter. Cut an X into the center of the rolls, push the dough down into the roll.
  3. Stir together the ⅓ cup butter, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon in a measuring cup. Pour evenly over the rolls.
  4. Stir the room temperature cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the sugar until smooth, then stir in the beaten egg.
  5. Use a piping bag to pipe the cream cheese into the rolls. Or use a plastic bag and cut off the tip.
  6. Bake the rolls, uncovered at 375 F for 12 to 15 minutes. Check after 12 minutes.
  7. Allow the rolls to cool a few minutes before serving.
