Easy Mongolian Ground Beef

This quick and easy meal is perfect for a weeknight. Ground beef is cooked in a skillet with ginger and garlic. Then soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, pepper and hoisin sauce are stirred together in a bowl. Next the soy sauce mixture is added to the skillet. The sauce is cooked until thickened. Cooked noodles are stirred into the beef mixture. Green onions and sesame seeds are sprinkled on top before serving.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 tsp minced ginger
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 6 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 12 oz box linguine noodles
  • 4 green onions diced
  • Toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a skillet with high sides on the stovetop, brown the ground beef, along with the ginger and garlic until beef is cooked through. Use the back of a wooden spoon to make sure the meat is broken up well. Drain fat and return the pan to the stovetop.
  2. While the ground beef is cooking, cook the noodles and drain.
  3. Combine soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, red pepper flakes, pepper and hoisin sauce in a small dish and pour into the ground beef mixture.
  4. Let the sauce cook for 3 minutes to allow the ground beef to absorb the flavors.
  5. Transfer the cooked noodles to the ground beef mixture. Mix thoroughly and allow to cook to thicken sauce.
  6. Top with green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Recipe Notes

If needed add 2 tbsp water and 1 tbsp cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Stir fry noodles can used instead of linguine.
