Crock Pot Barbecue Ribs

This delicious ribs recipe cooks in a slow cooker and finishes in the oven. First ribs are rubbed with paprika, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper. Then the ribs are placed in a slow cooker. BBQ sauce is poured over the ribs before cooking for several hours. Next the ribs are placed on a baking sheet. The juices from the slow cooker are poured into a saucepan and boiled on the stovetop. This thickened sauce is brushed on the ribs, then the ribs are broiled in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 4 lbs pork baby back ribs
  • 3 cups BBQ sauce

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl mix the dry ingredients together, then rub the mixture onto both sides of the ribs.
  2. Arrange ribs in your crock pot – stand them up against the walls with the thicker side down and the meaty side against the wall.
  3. Pour BBQ sauce all over the ribs, cover and cook for 7 hours on LOW.
  4. Once the 7 hours is over, brown the ribs in the oven.
  5. Line a baking sheet with foil, carefully remove the ribs from the crock pot and place them bone side up on the baking sheet.
  6. Skim the fat from crock pot then pour the remaining juices from the crock pot into a small saucepan using a strainer.
  7. Bring the sauce to a boil and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes. Turn on your oven’s broiler and allow it to heat up.
  8. Once the broiler is preheated, brush the sauce on the ribs and broil for 5 minutes, take them out of the oven, then turn them over and brush them with sauce, then broil them again for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve with remaining sauce on the side.
