Christmas Cookie Bars

These cookie bars are perfect for Christmas baking. Butter is mixed with brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg and vanilla. Then in another bowl flour, baking soda, baking powder and whisk together. Next the dry ingredients are whisked into the wet ingredients. M&M’s, chocolate chips and Christmas sprinkles are folded into the batter. The dough is then pressing into a parchment lined baking pan. After baking and cooling the cookies are cut into bars.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter softened
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 cup Christmas M&M’s red and green
  • ½ cup Christmas sprinkles red, green & white
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F and line a 9x9 baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Using an electric mixer, cream together butter, brown sugar, sugar, egg and vanilla until combined.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt until combined.
  4. Gradually whisk the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.
  5. Fold in ¾ cup M&M’s, ¾ cup chocolate chips and ¼ cup of the sprinkles.
  6. Press the dough into the baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining M&M’s, chocolate chips and sprinkles on top.
  7. Bake in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
