Cook pasta, reserve pasta water.

Heat large skillet until hot. Add 2 tbsp olive oil, add garlic and shrimp. Cook 1 minute.

Flip shrimp over and sprinkle cooked side with basil, paprika, red pepper flakes and salt. Cook for 1-2 minutes stirring occasionally.

Remove shrimp from skillet, add sliced mushrooms. Cook on medium-high heat for 2 minutes, occasionally stirring, until soft and they release their juices. Sprinkle with salt.

Add shrimp to skillet, and then add 1 cup half-n-half. Bring to a boil.

Add ½ of the cheese. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium. Cook stirring until cheese is melted.

Gradually add remaining cheese in batches. Remove from heat. Taste and add more salt if needed. Add drained pasta. Reheat on medium. If the sauce is too thick add small amount of pasta water.

Season with more salt, red pepper and basil if desired.
