Georgia Gold BBQ Chicken

The delicious homemade barbecue sauce is what makes this recipe so tasty. Yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, cider vinegar, molasses, honey, butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne, oregano and salt and cooked together in a sauce pan. Once the sauce boils, it is cooked until reduced. Then seasoned chicken is placed on a hot grill and basted with the homemade barbecue sauce while cooking.

Ingredients

Georgia Gold BBQ sauce

  • ½ cup yellow mustard
  • cup Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp molasses
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¾ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp seasoned salt

Chicken

  • 2 tbsp BBQ seasoning
  • 3 lbs boneless chicken tender breasts or thighs

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients for the BBQ sauce in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
  2. Season chicken with BBQ seasoning on both sides. Prepare grill and cook chicken until almost done.
  3. During the last few minutes of cooking, baste chicken on both sides with BBQ sauce.

Recipe Notes

To cook without a grill, pan sear for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Place on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 400 F for 10 minutes, until chicken reaches internal temperature of 165 F.
