Easy Polish Cream Cheese Coffee Cake

This layered coffee cake is a delicious addition to any breakfast or brunch. A cake layer is made with sugar, sour cream, flour, baking soda, baking powder and an egg. Half of the cake batter is spread into a baking pan, then a filling made with cream cheese, sugar and an egg is spread on top. Next the remaining cake batter is dropped on top of the cream cheese filling. Finally a topping is made with pecans, brown sugar, flour and butter. After baking this yummy coffee cake is ready to eat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups AP flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Filling:

  • 2 packages (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 egg

Topping:

  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • cup AP flour
  • cup butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 9x13 baking pan.
  2. Beat 1 cup sugar, ½ cup butter and 1 egg in a bowl until smooth. Add in sour cream and vanilla; mix well. Stir in 3 cups flour, baking soda and baking powder until mixture comes together in a sticky dough. Spread half of the dough evenly into prepared pan.
  3. Beat cream cheese, ½ cup sugar and egg in another bowl until smooth. Spoon mixture evenly over dough. Drop remaining half of dough by spoonfuls over cream cheese mixture.
  4. Mix pecans, brown sugar, ⅓ cup flour and ⅓ cup butter in a bowl until mixture resembles a coarse crumble; sprinkle over dough.
  5. Bake in oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
